Do I need a hunting license?
No license is required for hog hunting on our private land. However, if you’re planning to hunt whitetail deer during the appropriate season, a valid Texas hunting license is required. Link to TX Parks & Wildlife

Safe Preparation of Wild Hog Meat
To ensure safety, wild pork must be thoroughly cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to eliminate any harmful pathogens.
Two Recipes for Wild Hog Meat
1. Wild Hog Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Ingredients:

4 lbs of wild hog shoulder or roast

1 cup barbecue sauce
-
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
-
1 tbsp paprika
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
Salt and pepper to taste

Burger buns
Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

Season the hog meat with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Place the meat in a roasting pan, pour apple cider vinegar over it, and cover tightly with foil.

Roast for 4–6 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shredded.

Remove from the oven, shred the meat, and mix it with barbecue sauce.

Serve on buns with your favorite toppings like coleslaw or pickles.
2. Wild Hog Sausage Patties
Ingredients:

2 lbs ground wild hog meat

1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tsp dried sage
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

Form the mixture into small patties.

Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
